No compromise on quality : Cinpres opens doors for Visteon
Essential automotive components are now even more pleasing to the eye, and stronger, thanks to unique technology supplied by Cinpres Gas Injection.
Visteon Interiors Slovakia, a worldwide leading supplier to the automotive industry based in Nitra, is adopting Cinpres’ Plastic Expulsion Process (PEP), to improve the aesthetic appearance and durability of automotive door pockets.
"People may spend hours sitting in a car and the fixtures and fittings that surround them need to make them feel comfortable and at home," says Visteon Plant Manager Rene Gralines. "Yet light-weight is the holy grail of vehicle manufacture - all vehicle manufacturers want to reduce the weight of vehicles in order to improve performance and economy, and will strive hard to achieve marginal improvements throughout the vehicle which - hopefully - add up to a significant total.
“Our aim was to produce a durable component containing both thick and thin sections, without compromising cycle times or component weight. PEP technology has allowed us to achieve exactly this, a high quality, robust component that in the past we would never have imagined possible using a similar amount of material and maintaining the light weight of the finished product,” he adds.
The use of Cinpres’ unique PEP technology has allowed for thicker sections of the component to be cored-out, significantly reducing the weight of the final product. The technology is particularly suited to components such as this with combinations of thick and thin sections and dramatically improves part quality.
Technical experts from Cinpres have been involved in mold trials at the Visteon facility in Slovakia, offering consultation on how to develop the original component design into a cost-effective, high-quality end product.
“Cinpres can help companies achieve lightweight components with improved durability, functionality or appearance. We have received a high level of support from Cinpres throughout this project and we have been particularly impressed with the proactive solutions offered, the efficient installation of the equipment and the training received,” adds Mr Gralines.
“In an industry where both aesthetics and comfort are crucial, our technology has significantly enhanced the possibilities available to Visteon,” says Jon Butler, Managing Director of Cinpres. “We are looking forward to future projects with Visteon and looking at the development of further components that can benefit from this technology.”
