CINPRES APPLICATION SPECIALISTS SHARE INNOVATIONS AT PDM
Plastics, Design & Molding (PDM), Hall 1, Stand 73, 15th – 17th April, Telford International Centre, UK

Cinpres Gas Injection Ltd, the world's market leading company in Gas Assisted Molding technology, will be exhibiting at PDM, where visitors to hall 1, stand 73, will be able to discuss various processes such as Optifoam and Water Assisted Molding (WAM).

As clear leaders in technical innovation, Cinpres will be highlighting the benefits of Optifoam – a retrofit system option for extrusion, using a foaming technique and physical blowing agents.

Key advantages of Optifoam include improved melt quality and the capability to retro-fit this unique solution to existing lines, without the need for screw modifications.  The Optifoam system can be mounted on any extrusion line independently from the manufacturer, and offers a foaming process that reduces overall material density and provides significant cost savings.

Cinpres application specialists will assist in advising customers on the application of this new technology as well as other cutting edge processes such as WAM.

The WAM process, a further addition to the Cinpres range, can be used effectively to reduce cooling times by up to 50 per cent of traditional gas molding, and is predominantly used for producing thick section tubular parts.

“The thermal conductivity and heat capacity of water is significantly higher than that of gas, allowing a more rapid cooling process and greater productivity to the end user,” said Jon Butler, Cinpres Managing Director.   “WAM molds hollow or partly hollow components by injecting water into the molten plastic in the mold, giving core-out with a smoother interior surface finish and reduced cycle times,” he said.

Cinpres has a proven track record of success in providing cost-reducing, quality-improving technical solutions.  The company revolutionised the way plastic injection molded parts were designed and manufactured in the 1980s with the introduction of controlled internal pressure moldings.  It remains a key technical innovator in the industry with equipment expertise and vast trial capabilities.

“We are seeing our technology move into new application areas as our customers see opportunities to keep one step ahead of the competition.  Foam and water assisted molding are important technologies which offer many benefits, including cost and weight reduction,” said Mr Butler.
